Pune will be disappointed with their death bowling, conceding 164 runs, after having Chennai on the ropes at one stage. Mohit Sharma as in sizzling form for Chennai, picking up three early Pune wickets of Finch, Suman and Yuvraj Singh, braking the back of Pune early on. They scored 46 runs in the power play, ahead of the rate, but lost 4 wickets in the process, batting like a team that belongs at the bottom of the log. There was a bit of tail wagging, with Richardson (26 from 20) and Kumar 23* from 23 balls, getting Pune to 127 from their 20 overs. Dwayne Bravo was the most economical bowler to the Super Kings, completing his spell of 4 over with 1/18. Chennai winnings the game by 37, giving them 6 wins in a row, looking like the team to beat!

Not even Pollard could keep up with him, scoring 20 from 21 balls at the other end. Awana was excellent with the ball for the Kings XI, going for just 16 runs from his 4 overs. Mumbai closing off their innings on 174. Kings XI attacked well in the power play, ending with 55 runs on the board, losing the two wickets of Mandeep Singh and Vohra in the process. Marsh was the next man out, when he was caught by Pollard on the boundary, possible the catch of the IPL thus far. Hussey played well, before he was out on 34 from just 18 balls. Miller played a brilliant knock, scoring 56 from 34 balls, which included 5 huge sixes. Unfortionately no one was able to stay with him at the other end, it was only Praveen Kumar towards the end, that nearly pulled off a miracle, when he got the equation down to 5 from the last ball, he was caught at point by Tendulkar, Kings XI falling just 4 runs short.

Dravid went soon after in the 7th over, with his score on 22. Samson coming into the side today was wicket keep batsman, filled the number 3 sport, and did so well with grace. He was dismissed in the 15th over, scoring 63 from 41 balls, the youngster grabbing his chance with both hands. The Australian duo of Hodge and Watson were left with the task to take the Royals home. The Royals lost three quick wickets of Watson, Hodge and Shah, leaving it up to Binny to hit a boundary in the final over to give the Royals a 4 wicket win, with just 1 ball remaining.

Pune’s good form with the opening stand continued, when Uthappa and Finch put on a 76 run opening partnership, going at a good rate, laying the all-important foundation for the middle order. Uthappa was dismissed thanks for a brilliant outfield catch by Chand. Pathan look both the openers wickets, ending with figures of 2/29 from his 4 overs. It was left up to Yuvraj Singh and Luke Wright to try and finish it off to the Warrios, who desperately needed the win. The experienced pair were out shown by the Indian pace pairing of Yadhav and Nehra who bowled two crucial overs, 18 and 19, doing for only 9 runs in the two. Pune falling 15 runs short in the end, again losing a match, that they should have won with ease. Coach Allan Donald will be left pondering.

He is in the form of his life at the moment, and will most likely walk into any international XI, even if he is retired. Raina and Dhoni finished things off well, Raina run out with his score on 44 from 25 balls, carrying the Super Kings to 200 on the dot. With the ball, the whole Kolkata line-up were punished, even Narine, going for 35 from his 4 overs, showing that Chennai were prepared to attack everyone. Bisla and Gamhir came out to open the innings for the Knight Riders, getting to a lightning start, before Gamhir was bowled by Morris in the 3rd over with the score on 32. McCullum came in at number 3, only lasting 7 deliveries, clean bowled by Sharma. Kallis and Bisla looked to get things back on track, before Bravo struck a huge blow, sending Kallis back to the pavilion for 19. Bisla kept Kolkata in the hunt, before he perished in the cause when he was ru out by Mr Cricket, Hussey. This left just too much for Kolkata, andeven though Morgan gave them a sniff, with 19 required off the final over, Chris Morris bowled it going for just 4runs, giving Chennai a 14 runs win.

The mighty Bangalore only managed 35 runs in their power play, while also losing the wicket of Dilshan in the 6th over. Gayle left the scene in the next over, effectively ending the match as a contest. Virat Kohli and de Villier both failed after that, leaving Bangalore in huge trouble at 43/4 in the 8th over. This was thanks for a brilliant opening spell from Johnson and Malinga, although not taking the wickets, they build up the pressure by not conceding runs, leaving the wicket taking to Kulkarni and Singh, the duo taking 5 wickets between them. Bangalore managed only 136/7 from their 20 overs, handing Mumbai a huge 58 runs win, to get their tournament back on track.

He made 60 from 41 balls before being trapped lbw by Faulkner, his fifth victim, taking his career best figure of 5/20 from his 4 overs. Steyn played a little cameo towards the end, driving the Sunrisers to 144, a decent end to a very poor start. Dale Steyn together with Sharma continued their good form, restricting the Royals to just 30 runs in the power play, Steyn picking up the wicket of Rahane in the in the 3rd over. Dravid and Watson steadied the ship, showing good composure, before Dravid was dismissed in the 13th over. From there on it was the Watson show, bludgeoning the ball to all parts of the ground. He ended not out on 98* from just 53 balls, winning the match for the Royals by a massive 8 wickets, with still 13 balls remaining. Great performance by the Australian. Dale Steyn tried in vain with the ball, conceding just 15 from his 4 overs, but the support from the rest of the attack was not good enough on the day.
